WWF Zambia: Building stronger safeguards for better conservation outcomes

WWF Zambia just finished a two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Environmental & Social Safeguards, Statements of Principles, and Mitigation Frameworks, bringing together staff from across our landscapes and programmes.

The workshop strengthened our staff's understanding of WWF's Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework (ESSF), safeguards risk assessment and mitigation, rights-based conservation approaches, Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), and the use of mitigation planning tools. Through practical exercises and collaborative learning, participants are exploring ways to better integrate safeguards into programme planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

This important learning initiative is being delivered with technical support from WWF International and made possible through the support of WWF Netherlands, helping WWF Zambia advance inclusive, people-centred conservation that respects rights, promotes accountability, and delivers lasting impact for nature and communities.
