Miss Mental Health Zambia Launches Lusaka Edition Community Outreach
The Miss Mental Health Zambia Foundation has officially launched the Lusaka Edition of its Community Outreach Programme, a bold initiative aimed at promoting mental health awareness across the city, with a special focus on men’s and boys’ mental health.
Themed “Debt, Suicide, Hope: Find a Way Out”, the programme seeks to address the growing concern of mental health challenges caused by financial stress, social pressures, and lack of support. It emphasizes the importance of early intervention, emotional support, and community education, encouraging individuals to seek help and spread awareness.
For the next three months, the Lusaka Edition will roll out a series of community engagement activities, workshops, and awareness campaigns, targeting vulnerable groups, schools, workplaces, and local communities. These initiatives will provide practical tools, mental health resources, and platforms for open dialogue, ensuring that no one faces their mental health struggles alone.
At the conclusion of the three-month outreach, the program will celebrate its achievements through a beauty pageant, where participants and community leaders will come together to recognize the ambassadors of mental health advocacy. The pageant aims to shine a spotlight on individuals who have actively contributed to raising awareness and creating supportive spaces for those facing mental health challenges.
"Mental health is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Men and boys often suffer in silence due to stigma, and financial pressures can push people to desperate measures. Through this program, we want to bring hope, provide guidance, and remind everyone that there is always a way forward."
The Miss Mental Health Zambia Lusaka Edition Community Outreach Program represents a pioneering step toward breaking the stigma around mental health in Zambia. By combining advocacy, education, and community engagement, it aims to create a lasting impact on mental health awareness, empowering the next generation to live healthier, more hopeful lives.
